We have used the Humble Abode 3 times now while attending soccer tournaments for our daughter. There is enough room for the whole family and the grandparents too. It is always very clean, the owners are a delight to work with and as a guest you are made to feel completely welcome and at home. I hate to give such a good review for fear of others finding out about this great little secret...but it is a great place to stay. And the kitchy 70's decor is a true walk down memory lane. Enjoy your stay, we always do.- Sally S.
My family and I stayed at the Humble Abode and loved it. Very clean and comfortable. We loved sitting outside on the huge porch and enjoying the birds and cool air. This will be the only place we stay when in Carson City. There was plenty of room for two adults, six kids and our two dogs. Very close to the freeway and easy to get around. It took us less than twenty minutes to get to Tahoe.- ShepCarpClan
It was wonderful to be able to accomodate 7 family members at the Humble Abode at a reasonable price. We went during "off" season, and had a wonderful time with our family! The accomodations were clean and the instructions for care and use were clear and easy to follow. The decor is just as described, a taste of the past, and we had fun with our younger adult children admiring and talking about it! We are looking forward to staying there again sometime!- Janine
Nice 70's style mobile home. Very quiet location and nice fenced yard for dogs. Off street parking behind a gate. Owners had flowers and cookies waiting upon our arrival - very nice touch. The washer and dryer were an extra plus, didn't have to pack so much for our week's stray. We would for sure stay here again, hated to have to come home. Owner nice and friendly to talk with.- A guest from Pendleton
This was a wonderful place to stay at. Randee was so good to work with and made the stay even nicer. The house is clean, comfortable and a pleasure to stay at. We felt right at home the minute we walked in the door and the flowers and cookies were so wonderful. We loved that it is close to so many attractions and it is a great place to stay. (We went to Reno, Lake Tahoe and Virginia City and this was perfect place to stay to go to all of those.) We have already recommended this to friends and family as the place to stay. We are planning on coming back and this is the only place we will stay now. We loved it!- adaboy
my boyfriend found ur rental on line, so from the start it was convienent. we stayed there for 5 days, and we felt as comfortable there as if we were at home. the flowers and cookie were a nice touch. the cookies were yummy. u had everything that i needed to cook meals with. your place is very clean, that is something that is high on our list. the homey touch of your place made our stay fun and pleasurable. we will certainly stay there again when we are in that area. thanks for a wonderful time in your rental.- rusty & terri
We needed a place to stay for my brother's wedding. We couldn't have asked for a better experiance. The first night the heater didn't work and we have a toddler, I called Randee the very next morining and in about an hour some one was there to fix the heater. Since we were driving from Southern California it was nice to have everything already in the home right down to the pack in play and a booster seat. The personal touches in the home were great. The Humble Abode was just liking being at Grandma's house. Since we have family in town we will visit this home again!
Thank you Randee and your family.- happy customer
This was an adorable place to stay that was quiet and perfectly arranged to make a visitor feel right at home. We felt well taken care of and the accommodations worked well for our dogs too. This was a much better option than staying in a motel. The home actually has more space than what appears in the photos, is very clean and includes a very spacious yard. Don't be put off by the retro style...this home is very cozy.
Randee was super to work with too. She was down to business with a friendly touch. She obviously cares about her business and who she works with. All requirements and instructions were easy to follow. She made herself easily accessible too.
We highly recommend Humble Abode.

Our family, which includes 2 small dogs, got together at the "Humble Abode" We were impressed as soon as we drove up. Quiet neighborhood, snow on the mountains, fenced yard, open floor plan. The home is spotless. Everything you could want is there. We had our Christmas dinner with all 7 of us sitting around the table. Played games, watched videos, (we brought our Wii and played it with plenty of room in the front room, others watching one of the other TV's elsewhere). Walmart is close as other shopping and a new casino too. One day we rented skiis, a board, and snowmobile and had a most memorable day up on Mt Rose. Wonderful to return to our rental with the washer and drier! We plan to return again and again... We chose this place because it was pet friendly and the great price. It is a great deal......- Anonymous
We loved everything about Humble Abode, notably how immaculate it was and that it was stocked with everything we needed. The 70's theme was great...it brought me back to when I was a kid! Randee was prompt in answering any questions I had. The neighborhood was very quiet, and the yard is huge with ample parking. The freeway and several businesses are also very conveniently located, as is Downtown Carson City. We will definitely be staying here again when we return to the area. Thanks for the warm hospitality :)- Anonymous
This place is very clean well cared for, and comfortable. The owners are great to work with and understanding. So glad I found a nice place to stay with my whole family when I go to visit my grandparents.- Anonymous
This home was very clean and comfortable. It was full of flowers, including a bouquet of fresh flowers. We were welcomed with a plate of cookies even. My son uses a wheelchair so we were especially happy to find a home that has a wheelchair ramp and a hospital bed. He also likes to get out of his wheelchair and sit in a recliner which this home has as well. Both my son and his friend, who accompanied us, were pleased to have internet access. The decor is very cheerful and full of lovely things - it felt like a real home. Randee was very helpful in preparing for my son's use of the home and in providing clear directions and instructions.- Diane
We were not able to travel ourselves and arranged for another couple who also met the owners' relatives
there. Overall the experience with dealing on this vacation rental was excellent and commendable to
any friends and others. The owner was efficient, personable, and we hope to stay in touch.- Frau
Very well equipped and thoughtfully furnished, the owner is great to work with. Having been away from the area for a number of years we were very impressed with the availability of shopping and services. Great location for our Dalmatian, well fenced yard and room to run.- Robert D.
Staying at the Humble Abode was a unique experience that I would recomend to my friends, very clean and well cared for 70's retro stay it was like I was 17 all over again. Loved it! Thanks for the cookies.- The Hot Rod Painter
My husband and I and another couple rented Humble Abode while attending Street Vibrations! The rental was awesome! The owner really put a lot of conscientious effort into considering what we may want or need. The home is spacious, very clean and obviously well cared for. The flowers and cookies that greeted us were great since my husband doesn't buy flowers and I don't bake cookies! LOL! Although we did not bring our dogs on this trip, it's great to know that they are welcome. The yard is large and fully fenced in and we knew our bikes were safe. The requirements for bikers was easy, appropriate and simple to comply with. Also because there was so much room we were able to invite guests over.
Overall, our stay was really great! So much better than a hotel! I know we'll be back again & again, both for Street Vibrations (without the dogs) and for family visits (with the dogs) since we have family in the nearby area. Thank you again, Randee you were great!- Anonymous
What a great place to spend an old fashioned Christmas! We arrived on 12-23-11 for a 5 night stay. We walked in and it was like coming home to grandma’s house. It is much bigger than the photos show and so cozy and comfortable. It was clean and welcoming. There were fresh baked cookies and a vase filled with fresh flowers. What a sweet touch. My 8 year old grandson just loved it. For some reason he loved taking a bath in the master bathroom. The home just gave you such a warm and loved feeling. He was so relaxed there and he called it our Cabin. LOL. It was cool to see the old stereo and turn table, speaker cabinet, a beautiful organ and the big old lamps. We called them the Genie Lamps. I think we even rubbed the one hanging in the living room just to see if a Genie would pop out. LOL We settled in, went out and got a Christmas tree and had one of the best Christmas’s ever! The owner Randee is just an AWESOME person to work with. She answered all of our numerous questions and treated us like family. I can’t say enough good things about her. This is everything the ad states and then some. We recommend this rental to anyone who wants to get away and step a little back in time to a slower paced atmosphere.
We just loved it! This just might become a traditional Christmas getaway with our Family!
It looks like there are a lot of things to do in and around Carson City in the summer time so we are hoping we will be able spend some time there this summer.
If you are reading this, what are you waiting for? Contact her and rent it, you will not be disappointed!!!- Christmas
Grandma's house was everything we thought it would be! It was very clean and quiet! The dogs really liked it and it was really nice they had a place to run!! We will be staying there again!! The owner was very nice and understanding.- the o's
I have to admit that I was a bit hesitant to rent a mobile home for our family vacation. Rest assured this "humble abode" is a wonderful home that has all of the comforts needed to provide a safe and care free vacation. The location is convenient to all of the Sierra Nevada attractions, it is situated on a quiet tree lined street and the yard is accomodating, secure and well kept. The home was clean, comfortable and had ample space for family gatherings--complete with an avocado circular sofa. I would reccomend to my friends.- JP Stayed May 2012
We love this home. This is the second time we have stayed here and throughly love it. There is so much room and enough beds that we even had my parents come with us. They loved it too. All of the adults had their own rooms and there was seperate areas for the kids. The house is fun, clean and well stocked. They had everything we needed. There is lots of shaded areas in the yard to relax and let kids play. We love that it is so close to so many places to visit. They even have travel info there and papers with ideas of what to do and see. The house is perfect to be able to go to Virgina City, Lake Tahoe and Reno. Everything is so close. Randee is wonderful to work with. My son left his glasses and they took the time to find them for us. You are definately treated like famiily when you stay here. We love this home and all of us are planning on coming again and staying here.- Adaboy Stayed Jul 2012
I’ve been catching up at work and forgot to email you about how wonderful the trip was for us. Honestly, each one of us reflected that this was the BEST place we’ve ever stayed re: VRBO and we’ve stayed lots of places. It was so unique. What a fun stroll down memory lane. I remember all of the appliances in my 70’s childhood home down to the Mr. Coffee! The kids absolutely loved it. Your VCR and movie collection were a special treat. Fried Green Tomatoes a classic and you have it!! My husband grew up in Carson City not too far from the Humble Abode and his mother/sister are buried within a mile (toward town across from the park and down a street). My daughter and I went to the gym at the public recreation center several times and even walked– you should add that to your VRBO site. It has a very large indoor poor, an outdoor pool and a nice simple weight room. We swam at the historic hot springs just up the street. We drove and then took the steam train to Virginia City. Spent several afternoons at Sand Harbor, Lake Tahoe, too!- Alison M. Stayed Jun 2012
My small family and parents stayed in Carson just recently. With two small children, hotels are not only expensive, but impractical. This home was clean, comfortable, and quiet. Having a play pen, booster seat, and toddler bed available was such a great touch and made our trip much less stressful. Our host was a dream to work with. The details of our plans changed several times and Randee was very patient with us. Will definitely look this listing up again the next time we visit.- Teri Stayed Oct 2014
I was looking for a comfortable home to share with my friends who have some old age related issues. The Humble Abode was the perfect place! Plenty of parking right next to the ramp up to the door. A open kitchen that was easy to cook in with all the appliances and dishes you will need. Comfortable beds in a quiet neighborhood. The decor made us all feel like we were at our Grandmother's house. It was very clean and cozy inside. The place was just what we all needed. The owner Randee is a dream to work with. I would highly recommend this property.- Tanya P. Stayed Aug 2015
My family had the pleasure of staying at the "Humble Abode" during the Christmas week. It was a last minute plan and surprisingly a very easy process. Randee was a pleasure and always available for any questions we had. We absolutely loved the décor and it was stocked with everything a home should have. We were also pleasantly surprised there was WIFI...a must for my son, whom has Xbox Live! The kitchen was great...everything you need to cook! The beds were very comfortable and the heater worked well, as it did snow while we were there. The car port was great! Overall, it was a flashback to the past and very cozy. We had a very Merry Christmas! We will definitely stay here again. It's so close to Lake Tahoe, Virginia City and Reno. Great location!- Jennifer M. Stayed Dec 2015
My family stayed here with our dogs for a few days in the snow and had a great time. The house has everything you need and Randee was very helpful and great to talk to. Carson City is half an hour from Tahoe and Reno, the perfect little spot. We loved the town so much we're thinking about retiring there.- Heather D. Stayed Jan 2017
Getting older sometimes requires a time out for reflection. As Rick turned 60 while in the 'Humble Abode' was a wonderful and relaxing way to enter into this new phase of life. The home was easy to find, clean and exceptionally equipped with everything I needed for food preperaton. I would say to anyone looking to stay here, stop looking and book it!!! Rick's 60's was coming in like a lion but, thanks to Randee it went out like a lamb. Thank you so much for Rick's birthday cupcakes and what a wonderful birthday card. We are proud to be a part of the 'Humble Abode' family.- Cyndi L. Stayed Aug 2017
We had a two week reservation. We loved staying there. It was so big and roomy and had all the amenities, with such style.
The Humble Abode is not so humble - it is a pitch perfect late 1960's - early 1970's home. Everything is clean and pristine. Nothing looks old or well-used. Things are so crisp it is like walking into a time machine. We had so much fun noticing all the details as the days went by. Randee really did an amazing job.
The master bathroom has a big 1970-modern tub that is straight out of a Life magazine advertisement (and long before people had to think about water conservation). I got a kick out of just looking at it every time I went into the bathroom.
We had literally every single thing we needed and then some. I can't say enough about the little details.
Baggies for sandwiches? Yep.
Laundry detergent for the washer? Yep, three kinds.
Every kind of dish and cooking utensil you can imagine? Yep.
A genuine 1960's iron (with the cloth-covered cord!) that gets so hot you could use it to make crispy grilled cheese sandwiches (which my grandmother used to do with an iron exactly like that) - yep.
One of my favorite things was The Wall of Towels. One of the bedrooms has a floor-to-ceiling bookshelf-style wall of folded towels for your use. Randee has obviously read The Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy and knows good advice when she sees it.
One morning an issue came up with the central air - we called Randee and she had it fixed by the afternoon. She even called us to ask if it was okay for the bugman to make his scheduled visit to spray outside and she cheerfully rescheduled when we were a little queasy about it.
The neighborhood is working class with a lot of manufactured homes. We were a little surprised at first but during our entire 2-week stay, it was totally quiet and peaceful and the neighbors were friendly (if you got a glimpse of them). There is a big fenced-in yard, so we could just open the door and let our dogs out to run.
On the corner as you come into the neighborhood is a one-man, outdoor museum that should be on the tourist maps. It is free and is obviously a life-long labor of love. It has so many valuable old Nevada artifacts that I worried about them getting stolen. It is one of those whimsical human things that hide here and there without fanfare and just amaze you when you stumble upon them.
The location is great (15 min. from Lake Tahoe, 30 min. from downtown Reno). We'll stay there again and bring friends.- R. b. Stayed Sep 2017
The place will definitely make you feel like you went into a time machine in the best way possible. The house is clean, well kept, and has great yard space for the pups! We look forward to staying there in our next family trip to Carson.- Jordan N. Stayed Nov 2017
